About

Trees, Trees, Trees

The Three Hares Community Woodland is an 18 acre community woodland near Auchendinny, Midlothian.

The Three Hares has been set up as a not for profit Community Interest Company.  Our vision is to protect and develop the woodland for the benefit of the community.  We focus on Conservation, Biodiversity, Education and Health.

Since becoming stewards of the land in January 2017, we have planted over a whopping 2000+ trees at Three Hares.  Thanks to all the volunteers who are making this happen.

Regular ‘Volunteer Days’ happen on the last Sunday on each month, 11am-3pm.

Come along for all of the session or drop in for as long as you can.  Activities include Tree Care, Woodland Management and Path Maintenance.  Bring snacks, water and working gloves if you have them.  No previous experience necessary and all are welcome!

The Musical Forest

In 2022 we opened our Musical Forest shelter, equipped with beautiful percussion instruments for anyone to play, funded by Creative Scotland.  We have also been running some Musical Forest Workshops.  The shelter and instruments have been made from reclaimed wood, which holds much history.  Now transformed to sing!

Aloha from Maui ~ when I was walking in the glen, a local Gabe me your website. I am happy to learn of your caring co-creative, brilliant beauty! I hope to meet when I return. I live on Maui in Hawaii, & founded the MPN in 2006, Maui Permaculture Network. I founded the Orkney Permacullture Network (OapN) in July 2016.
I love Scotland, my family roots back to 483AD from me. I was born in California to my father who was born in Shetland Iskands when it was called Zetland, in 1919.

Hi we passed by your woodland yesterday and swooped down to have a look. Thanks for the directions along the river ‘path’. We found our way. What a wonderful project – we hope to join you on your Sunday gatherings when we can. With our best wishes.
