Tree Planting

At the beginning of last Spring the first trees went into the ground at the Three Hares Community Woodland thanks to our generous neighbours.  150 native species, an easy task, helped by volunteers and a good sunny day.  We even basked in the sunshine as we shared a picnic after the work was done.

Last November a further 230 trees, donated by TCV and again native species, were planted at the Three Hares.  Rowan, Downy Birch, Lime, Oak, Goat Willow, Alder, Hawthorn, Blackthorn…

According to a  post at the end of last year by the Woodland Trust, in the UK ‘tree planting rates have plummeted to an all-time low.’  It is also noted that ‘woodland cover across the UK is just 13%’.

We have more trees to plant!

11th and 12th of March 2017 is our tree planting weekend.  We have 450 trees donated by the Woodland Trust, along with steaks and guards.  As 450 trees aren’t a lot to plant, expect an easy weekend!  We’ll start on Saturday at 10am.

Campers welcome!
