Events This Weekend!

As the nights start to draw in we know how important it is to get out in nature and this weekend we have not one but TWO events to do just that!

There lots of beautiful haws (hawthorn berries) on the land at the moment.
Did you know haws can be used to make ketchup!

The first event called ‘Listening to the Land’ will be on Saturday and is run by Dougie Mackay ( and Kriya Arts ( This event will be a day of story sharing, nature connection, dialogue and performance. Celebrating ancient and emerging stories that offer a ray of light in these changing times.

Some of the first trees we planted on the land are nearly ready to have their tree guards removed. This is an exciting step on the route to reforesting the land.

The second event will be on Sunday. This will be our first volunteering day which is open to the public since the start of the pandemic so it’s very exciting! This time we will be focussing on tree care.

There are still a few ripe brambles dotted around the site. If you do come along to our events keep an eye out for a tasty treat!

Ensuring that the 3000 trees we have planted over the last 5 years have the best chance of success. Alice our funding officer will be leading this. This event is open to everyone so make sure to share with your friends and invite them along!

About foragingandfindings

I'm a 4th year student at Edinburgh University studying ecology. I have a keen interest in foraging and nature and I've made this blog to share this. It will contain tips on what to forage and when and what to do with it afterwards.
