Tracy O’Loughlin, Writer.

I am originally from the Grampian highlands, an area of North Scotland renowned
for its incredible natural life and beauty; hill tops and ancient yet fresh rivers
made a poet of me as a child. I continue to draw inspiration from the elements which surround me.

Drawing heavily on my drama degree (Queen Margaret University 2002) I have
worked with children as a storyteller and entertainer since 2012
http://www.oneredelephant.org. I use storytelling (original work) and balloon modelled
puppets to stimulate the imagination and support literacy through play and
language. I have performed at various community events, at schools, nurseries,
private functions and holiday clubs.

I have had my work published with various national and local publications
including Gay Times, 50GS Literary magazine and Pink News. My writing was
commissioned to support equality work in partnership with LGBT health and
wellbeing at Scottish Parliament, Summer reception in 2022.

Glen Leslie, Poet and Painter

Glen Leslie (MFA) is a painter and poet from Aoteroa, NZ, now settled in the Scottish Borders. Around festivals, firesides, and in Edinburghs hallowed Captains Bar, Leslie can be heard performing the poems and songs from his recent collection ‘Seasons of the Berry Witch’, with a romantic sensibility, stirring imagery, and beatnik joie de vivre, it is a true feast for the ears.

Lady Incarnate, Poet and Spoken Word Artist

Lady Incarnate is an interdisciplinary artist and producer based in Glasgow. She is known for her work as frontwoman of the experimental fusion band The Positive Experience and as an MC with various DJs and performers on he Scottish dance music scene.

She is also an accomplished spoken word and written poet, having published her first collection ‘Tails and Stings of Insects and Things’ at 16, she has performed her poetry for over a decade across the UK.

Her work is fiercely moving, focusing on expressing the dysphoria and euphoria of the trans experience. However, her work speaks on a deeper level to the wider human experience, discussing the tension and joy that arises from the urban experience when contrasted with the pastoral and sublime power of the Scottish landscape.

Iona Lee, Poet, Artist, Music-maker, and Spoken-word Performer

Iona Lee is a poet, artist, music-maker, and spoken-word performer from Edinburgh. She has been a prominent member of Scotland’s live poetry scene for over a decade, appearing on radio and television and reading her work in venues and on festival stages all over the UK and Europe.

Iona has an MFA in Philosophy & Fine Art from DJCAD, where she refined her interdisciplinary approach and focused on themes surrounding memory, magic, the ephemeral and the digital.

In 2022, Iona won the John Byrne Award for her poetry film, Away With the Faeries – a retelling of the Tam Lin ballad. Her debut poetry collection, Anamnesis (Polygon, 2023) was shortlisted for the Edwin Morgan Award and won the Somerset Maugham Award, after appearing on SNACK Magazine’s list of the top ten books to be published in Scotland in 2023.

Dougie Mackay Storyteller

Described as “prominent amongst Scotland’s emerging storytellers”, “enigmatic with a raw sense of humour”, and “an excellent storyteller”, Dougie loves connecting with people, place and imagination through the ever evolving world of folk tales.

He blends the traditional, hearth-side style of telling that has warmed hearts and imaginations for centuries, and more dynamic, contemporary performance telling gaining popularity across Europe. Dougie’s performances are intimate, yet crafted, suiting firesides, schools and theatres equally.

Dougie’s favourite tales are gathered from Highland and Scots folk history and myth, delighting in the sense of people in times past, gathering at firesides in deepest winter, entertaining each other with tales of bogles, witches and selkies. He also tells many wonder tales around the world, reflecting the far-flung places he has explored (West Africa, India, North America and Europe). Using West African djembe drum, songs and games to enhance sessions where appropriate, attention is given to audience participation and fun.

With a background in Community Education, and having worked with The Village Storytelling Centre in Glasgow as a full time community storyteller, he is comfortable and experienced in many social contexts, with a substantial storytelling project portfolio. He can also combine storytelling with team building, games, bush-craft, Wild Food Walks, Nature Connection, Tai Chi and more as a way of creating a wider experience. As well as delivering sessions he is happy to assist with design and development of individual sessions and ongoing programmes. Stories unlock keys in our imagination and give a very real understanding of the world around us. In this multimedia age, there is something vital and nourishing about connecting with others face to face for the sharing of a story or song.
